Coronado & Carmen Island

Classic Dive Trip

Diving Area

A 4-5 hour tour where we explore either Coronado Island or the west coast of Carmen Island.

The dive sites around Coronado are characterized by their dramatic lava formations that create caverns, ledges and deep, steep walls, ribbetted with soft coral. Some spots offer great drift dives as well.

Carmen island is large and dive sites very variated. They can range from deeper seamounts teeming with life, to steep wall dives or shallow pinnacles.

Both locations offer dive sites suitable for both beginners and advanced divers.

Carmen Island

The Wild North

Diving Area:

A 4-5 hour adventure where we will visit some of the most representative landmarks in Carmen Island.

The exposed north coast of Carmen is steep and the water can be a bit rougher when the wind blows. Its particular conditions make this region ideal to spot pelagics and bigger fish, such as mobula rays, great schools of barracudas, huge groupers and snappers etc.

The underwater scenery is usually steep and abrupt. Some sites offer deep drop-offs made of gigantic boulders, some other show tunnels and cannyons. The boat ride there is equally intereting and you will be able to see huge limestone cliffs, sea caves and sandy beaches.

This is an intermediate-advanced level area, although beginners can equally enjoy if the weather is nice.

Danzante & The Pinnacles

The Deep South

Diving Area:

A 5-6  hour adventure where we will visit some of the most spectacular dive sites of the entire Marine Park. We sail south towards Danzante Island and the offshore seamounts.

The north half of Danzante island offers pristine, easy dive sites suitable for every diver. Underwater walls, huge boulders, rocky slopes and sandy bottoms mingle constantly, allowing for a great biodiversity, where you can find tons of moray eels, turtles, reef fish and rays.

The south bit of the island, and the farther seamounts and pinnacles are advanced dives, usually surrounded by strong currents. Deep, steep pinnacles and walls are common, and greater depths are attained. This creates the perfect habitat for black coral, sea fans and gorgonias, that are very abundant here. Nudibranches can be found in great numbers, and big animals, like eagle rays or horn sharks pass by the deep walls.

Close to the shore, there is the wreck of the mine sweeper C-54 “Agustin Melgar”. This 180 foot long ship was sunken for diving purposes and has some easy penetrations as well as advanced training opportunities.

Montserrat Island

and Las Galeras

Diving Area:

A 5-7  hour adventure where we will visit remote seamounts with pristine conditions and several seldom visited spots.

Montserrate island is a more remote island compared to its sisters within the National Park. On our way we will sail along Danzante island and the east coast of Carmen and will keep an eye out for dolphins and whales. We will dive in some of the most untouched seamounts around Montserrat, like the wonderful Bajo Sandia o La Reinita. We will also sail by Las Galeras, a small set of twin islands surrounded by turquoise waters and where we also find a sea lion colony. After the dives, if weather and time allows, we will stop in one of the many sandy coves and beaches of Montserrat before we sail back to the mainland.

* Price shown is based on at least a 2 day tour package departing from Puerto Escondido. Regular price departing from Loreto is 160 USD per person

Bioluminiscence at its best

Magical Night Dive

Diving Area:

A 4  hour adventure where we sail around Coronados Island.

We depart on the evening and will watch the sun go down at the sea while we enjoy some drinks. Sunsets on the Cortez are fantastic, and tranquil waters and idilic bays make for the perfect setting.

Once it gets dark, it’s time to dive! Our night dives are conducted in a special manner: we spend the first half of the dive in total darkness, waiting for the bioluminescence to reach its peak. The light show is usually amazing with thousands of tiny planktonic beings swarming around you, lighting up the water as if you were floating in the outer space! After a while, we turn our lights back on and carry on exploring the reef. It is then when we will find wandering lobsters, hermit crabs, sea hares grazing, sea cucumbers feeding and predatory fish hunting.
